Parental Consent: For minors participating in the Competition, legal guardians must sign a consent and responsibility waiver confirming their understanding and acceptance of the competition’s terms and conditions.
Participation Fee: The participation fee per contestant is €10.
Exemptions apply for students from the following social categories, upon submission of valid supporting documentation during registration:
- Students from families with three or more children.
- Students from families eligible for Minimum Guaranteed Income, according to Cypriot legislation.
Advancement and Selection: The Organizing Committee reserves the right to adjust the number of students progressing to each phase, based on evaluation results and organizational needs. The National Team representing Cyprus at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) will consist of five (5) students who have participated in and successfully completed all phases of the local competition, achieving the highest overall scores.
Competition Language: The local competition will utilize both Greek and English. All exam papers, materials, and assessments across phases will be provided in English only.
The official language of the International Economics Olympiad is English; all notes, tasks, solutions, and marking schemes are provided exclusively in the official language. No translations into Greek will be issued.
Permitted Tools: During in-person examinations, participants may use a simple (non-programmable) pocket calculator. The use of mobile phones, smartphones, smartwatches, or any electronic communication devices is strictly prohibited.
Participation in the International Olympiad: The participation of the Cypriot delegation in the IEO will be primarily remote. The timing and format of the international competition may change depending on decisions by the IEO Board or the local Organizing Committee.
In-person participation may be arranged if adequate funding is secured through sponsors and institutional supporters.
Data Protection and Media Consent: All participants consent to the processing of their personal data by the Cyprus University of Technology, the International Economics Olympiad, and their authorised partners, solely for purposes related to participation, administration, and promotion of the competition. During the competition, the organizers may film, photograph, or record participants for documentation and promotional purposes.
Compliance with IEO Rules: All regulations and ethical guidelines established by the International Economics Olympiad apply to the national and local stages of the competition.
