
Local Competition: «Manage your finances smartly, build your future wisely»
Phase 1: Initial Registration and Preliminary Exam
- Round with 40 multiple-choice questions covering:
- Basic principles of economics
 - Financial literacy
 
 - Format: In-person exams will be held at various examination centers across Cyprus, with the main examination center being Amphitheater 1, Tassos Papadopoulos Building, Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
 - Advancement to the next phase:
- 30 students with the highest scores will advance to the next round.
 - Note: The number of individuals who qualify may be subject to change at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
 
 - Study Material: Available HERE.
 
Phase 2: Intensive Full-Day Educational Program (Bootcamp)
- Students who qualified from the first (1st) phase will participate in an intensive full-day bootcamp.
 - Includes:
- Interactive activities, such as icebreakers, and team-building exercises.
 - Lecture on a specialized topic in financial literacy, related to the International Economic Olympiad.
 - Structured study with a lunch break and guidance from mentors.
 - An exam assessing comprehension of the material taught at the end of the Bootcamp.
 
 - Format: In-person at the University’s premises.
 - Advancement to the Final (3rd) phase:
- 10 students with the highest combined scores advance to the final round:
- 50% from Phase 1
 - 50% from Phase 2
 
 - Note: The number of students advancing may change at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

Phase 3: Final Round
- Interactive Workshops:
- Personal financial management
 - Business topics and strategy
 - Presentations and soft skills
 
 - Two main components:
 
- 
- Financial Literacy Game: Assesses strategic thinking and practical application of the concepts learned.
 - Team-based Business Case Study: Analysis and presentation of solutions for a real-world problem.
 
 
- Format: Hybrid – Combination of remote and in-person.
 - Attendance: Mandatory.
 
Selection Criteria for Cyprus’s 5-Member Representation Team
- Based on cumulative scoring:
- 25% from the Phase 1 exam
 - 25% from the Phase 2 exam
 - 25% from the Financial Literacy Game in Phase 3
 - 25% from the Business Case Presentation in Phase 3
 
 
Awards and Recognition
- Certificate of Participation: For all students participating in Phase 1 of the competition. Medals: A total of 20 medals will be awarded, distributed as follows:
- 5 First-Place Medals: Awarded to the 5 Students selected to represent Cyprus in the International Economics Olympiad.
 - 5 Second-Place Medals: Awarded to the students who advance to the 3rd phase of the competition but do not qualify to represent Cyprus in the International Economics Olympiad.
 - 10 Third-Place Medals: To the students who rank 11th to 20th based on their cumulative scores from the 1st Phase (50%) and 2nd Phase (50%).
 
 - Certificates of Achievement: For each student who successfully passes each phase.
 - Trophy: For the student with the highest overall score across all phases.
 
Additional Recognition:
- The schools of the students who excel will be officially informed of their achievements.
 - Medals and awards will be presented during a special ceremony held at the university’s premises, open to the public.
