A national challenge in Economics, Finance, and Business — empowering the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

About the Competition

The Cyprus University of Technology proudly announces the 2026 National Competition “Manage Your Finances Smartly, Build Your Future Wisely”, the third national edition of the initiative that will select the national 5-member team representing Cyprus at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2026 in Suzhou, China.

The IEO is a prestigious global competition that unites exceptional high school students representing more than 68 countries worldwide. It combines the disciplines of Economics, Finance, and Business to challenge young minds, encourage analytical thinking, and inspire innovation. Cyprus enters its third consecutive year of participation, following an award‑winning debut in Hong Kong in 2024, where the national team achieved three bronze medals.

The competition is organised by the Department of Finance, Accounting and Management Science (FAMS) of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), with the support of leading national institutions and sponsors, including the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the Central Bank of Cyprus, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, the Youth Board of Cyprus, and the Financial Wellbeing Institute.

The competition welcomes high school students from all academic backgrounds who excel in their studies, demonstrate sharp intellect, and show creative thinking, and who are eager to understand how economics and finance shape today’s world. Participants embark on a transformative learning journey that builds analytical reasoning, economic understanding, financial literacy, and teamwork — the essential skills for the next generation of economists, innovators, and leaders.

The Journey

The competition unfolds across four progressive phases, combining discovery, challenge, and collaboration. Each phase builds on knowledge, skills, and confidence — from intuitive reasoning to advanced analysis and teamwork. Learn more about each phase and how to prepare HERE.
